Hopeful Hoopers

At church we have been talking a lot about being a disciple. The standard definition of “disciple” is someone who adheres to the teachings of another. It is a follower or a learner. It refers to someone who takes up the ways of someone else. Applied to Jesus, a disciple is someone who learns from him to live like him — someone who, because of God’s awakening grace, conforms his or her words and ways to the words and ways of Jesu s.  The school shooting this week is an example of how the world needs Jesus. We can't just sit back and hope the world gets better, because it won't!  I struggle with being a witness. I tend to be afraid to talk about Jesus to certain people afraid of what they will say. Today my heart is so heavy and I feel God is telling me to quit ignoring Brother Brent and to start spreading the word! My devotion the other night was called sutures. I found it very fitting  seeing how my oldest had to get stitches last week. The devotion was about going through trials or pain and then not fully giving it over to God.  When you hold on to bad things that have happened or pain you have experienced, it's just a matter of time before the Devil finds away for that pain to come back to the surface.  I have struggled with this before. More than once. It's just another example of how we are nothing without God.  Jesus is our great physician. He takes all our injuries and sutures them up, So the Devil  can't open that wound up again.  If you are struggling with an old wound, Stop revisiting the pain. Give it to God & Pray that he will heal you!! -Kymberly 

We have all heard it--  Pray. Wait. Trust. Much easier said than done, right?  It's easy to pray but when you talk about waiting and trusting that's a little harder. Especially if it's not in "our" timeline. For the past year & a half I have prayed for a job closer to my family (I drive 35 mins to work each day) I tried waiting & trusting. Then I tried putting it back in my own hands. (That didn't work!!) Finally, I prayed and trusted that when the time was right God would send something my way. Before Christmas break I was offered a job 25 mins closer to home. I was unsure at first what to do & if this was God's will or if this was my doings. I prayed more & I decided to take the job.  January 3rd was my first day. I walked in the office & went to my room and one of the first things I noticed was my mouse pad. You know what time it is. Time to make all those New Year resolutions. Of course, Just like everyone else, I would like to lose some weight. But my number one Resolution is to get into God's word more & for Spiritual growth. We never grow closer to GOD when we just live life.
